A Fantastic North Arkansas Depression Era Family StoryA fast, easy read, the writer leaves me wanting more at the end. I met the writer Luanne Gregory, in the course of her normal day job. While discussing online shopping, she had told me she had written a book and it was on Amazon. I personally purchased the book at full price from Amazon.
Filled with Southern wit, Arkansas history and deep resounding descriptions of each character, some of whom you will instantly fall in love with and others who you will remember as villains. As you read, you'll scream at the few villains and cheer on the good people. Divorce and alcoholism wasn't much different back then as it is today.
Hope, family and seizing opportunity will get you thru anything. Recommended read!

This is the first book in years I have read that I truly didn't want to put down. The stories reminded me of so many I have heard in my own family. I hope to see more from Luanne Gregory.

Beautiful book well written. I know this author and her family and found the book so interesting from many view points. She is a very talented author with a huge future.
Luanne's book is one that I literally could not put down. I read while drinking my afternoon coffee then made another pot to finish. As an avid reader, a book must catch my attention quickly, and beginning with the surprising title, Head Lice and Hot Tamales accomplished that, then led me through the ups and downs of the emotional life of Jean. I look forward to another book from Luanne Gregory.
This book I purchase was a fantastic book love the story very well written I met her sister thru her job she was telling other about it so I knew I had to try it I never ever give over 2.00 for a book.so I waited for the price to drop kept hearing about it so I went head purchase it I'm so glad I did read it one night could not put it down ill read anything else luanne writes
It brings smiles, laughter and tears. The writer keeps the reader wanting to turn the page and keep on reading...and at the end makes the reader yearn for more. The author writes where the reader visualizes each person, house, town, vehicle, animals. Love the references about God and His care. Wonderful tribute to the author's mother...."Jean".
A great read about a rural family in a time of change and turmoil. Love and laughter, tears and fears, all from the perspective of a young girl who is old enough to understand so much of what is happening. Looking forward to more from this author!
