This story is not my usual reading, but once I started I couldn't stop. I love the story and I'm looking forward to the next adventures of Marie and her friends.
I don't yet own any kind of e-reader, but will purchase my first just to continue reading Marie Meehanan's adventure. I can't readily explain it, but this story feels real, like some wonderfully eerie, fireside tale one might hear on a cold, autumn evening whilst residing in the Catskills. I can practically hear the ancient oaks creak as the wind moans past them. A yarn that's part Washington Irving, part Stephenie Meyer. And the evocative illustrations, reminiscent of woodcut art, lends the narrative even more authenticity. I'm hooked! This is a gripping, at times scary, legend that I can't wait to finish. It's past 3 AM and I can't stop thinking about it!
For someone who has no time to read, I found it hàrd to put the book down. I would definitely recommend this to all ages. I'll be waiting for the next tale. Loved it!
I have read many fantasy novels. This one has it all, drama, intrigue, a well woven story and back story that makes a full circle, and suspense!!! Once I started reading this I could not put it down. Great first book Mr. Scotti. I cannot wait to read the further tales of Marie Meehanan and the Exiles. If you like fantasy books, you will LOVE Spellhollow Wood!

I really enjoyed reading this. It was suspenseful and hard to put down! I'm adding it to my 'read again' shelf. I would definitely recommend this to anyone and everyone!
When I started reading from the start I didn't know what to expect. I was intrigued enough by the synopsis. Upon reading this I felt as though I discovered a gem. What a find! What a great read! I was spellbound by the adventures of the heroine Marie Meehanan. It was like going on a journey to a place I have never been to. As a kid growing up my friends and I lived across the street from woods. We use to play in them and imagine that there were witches, troll, giants, etc living in them. This story awakened those memories of my childhood. The thrilling adventures of Marie and her friends was very exciting and unlike anything I have read before of this genre. Credit writer Joe Scotti for his wild imagination. It's a story that has beauty one moment, then horror the next. Moments of peace, then danger. Triumphant and tragic. Like the changing landscape of Spellhollow Wood you never knew what was coming next. An exciting story which I can see a great movie being made, with the right director. I highly recommend this novel and I look forward to more adventures of Marie and friends.
